Some things can't be learned from a cookbook.
The weight of fresh dough in your hands, the exact moment a sauce is ready, the instinct behind a perfect food-wine pairing — these are things passed down through generations, learned by studying, but mostly by doing.
At Podere Le Caggiole, in the hills of Montepulciano, Giacomo invites you into his kitchen for the most complete Tuscan culinary experience we offer — designed for everyone, from curious beginners to experienced cooks who want to go deeper.
The experience begins on the panoramic terrace, where Giacomo welcomes you at his family home: Agriturismo Le Caggiole — an organic farm managed by the same family for over seven generations, with a deep respect for the environment, for genuine ingredients, and for the living traditions of Tuscan cuisine. Here, before the class begins, guests are introduced to each other — because a shared table starts long before the food is ready.
Then into the kitchen. Before anything else, Giacomo, Chef & Sommelier, introduces the ingredients: where they come from, why they were chosen, and what makes them special.
Local, organic, seasonal, fresh — this is the philosophy behind every dish, and understanding it is the first step of the class!
The course is dynamic: five hours of hands-on preparations alternating with live demonstrations by Giacomo, who walks you through every technique, every ingredient choice, and every reason behind it — so you don't just learn recipes, you learn how to think in the kitchen. Seven preparations in total, nothing pre-made — in a small group of maximum 8 guests, so that Giacomo can dedicate the right attention to everyone.
At the end of the preparations, you'll sit down to a complete 5-course tasting:
- Tuscan Appetizer
- Pappardelle with its traditional sauce
- Gnocchi with its traditional sauce
- Main Course — with the iconic Chianina IGP beef
- The legendary Tiramisù of le Caggiole
At the tasting table, Giacomo presents each dish alongside its paired, selected local wine (except for Tiramisù) - explaining the reasoning behind every pairing and giving you the practical tools to understand the art of food-wine matching.
The atmosphere is warm and convivial, because that's simply what happens when good food, good wine, and good company come together!
The class ends back on the terrace, where the Tiramisù is waiting — weather permitting, the perfect ending to a perfect afternoon.
You'll also leave with something beyond the recipes: Giacomo's practical guidance on how to choose the best ingredients in everyday life — even at your local supermarket. Because great cooking starts long before you reach the kitchen.

How do I get there?
The farmhouse is easily reached by car, located just outside Montepulciano — a convenient stop between Florence and Rome. Many of our guests combine the class with a visit to Montepulciano Old Town and its famous historic wine cellars on the same day.
I don’t have a car — can I still reach you?
From Montepulciano, we strongly recommend booking a taxi in advance — both for the ride here and the return. Around lunchtime and in the evening, taxis are often fully booked, especially in high season. Plan ahead to avoid any issues. Note: the last stretch of road to the farmhouse has no sidewalk, so arriving on foot is not recommended.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the experience, minus a 10% fee to cover bank charges, transaction fees and registration fees already incurred. Cancellations within 24 hours, no-shows, or early departures: 100% of the total amount.
What do other guests say about this experience?
Our guests consistently rate us among the top cooking class experiences in the Region. Read their reviews on Google and TripAdvisor — search for “Tuscan Cooking Classes by le Caggiole”.
